Damian is a Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and Member of the Australian College of Physiotherapists with over 25 years’ experience in elite sport. He has worked at three Olympic Games and with Olympic and World Champion athletes across triathlon, cycling, rowing and volleyball. Widely recognised for his expertise in cycling injury management and bikefitting, Damian works closely with orthopaedic surgeons to optimise both non-surgical and post-operative outcomes.

Nigel is a highly experienced Physiotherapist with a PhD in chronic pain and tendon injuries. He holds a Master’s degree in Manipulative Therapy and is widely sought for second opinions in complex or persistent conditions. Nigel combines advanced rehabilitation principles with extensive experience across elite sport and everyday injuries. He has particular expertise in tendon pain, overuse injuries and high-level return-to-performance programs.

Sports Podiatrist & Senior Physiotherapist – West Perth

Julie is a dual-qualified Sports Podiatrist and Senior Physiotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience. She combines biomechanics, rehabilitation and premium orthotic therapy to manage lower limb injuries, heel pain and paediatric gait conditions. A competitive Ironman triathlete, Julie has particular expertise in cycling biomechanics and Gebiomized bikefitting. She is also a published author and guest lecturer in podiatric medicine

Steve holds a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and has post-graduate training in strength and conditioning. He has contributed to international research in chronic pain and leads rehabilitation and conditioning programs at Star Physio, including Cyclefit classes for cyclists and triathletes. Steve has particular expertise in acute sporting injuries, contact sports and performance-focused rehabilitation.

Physiotherapist (APA Titled), Exercise Physiologist – West Perth

James is a dual-qualified Physiotherapist and Exercise Physiologist, a Nationally Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and holds a Master’s degree from Curtin University. A Triathlon Australia Team Physiotherapist and former WA State Half Ironman Champion, James has presented internationally on bikefitting and injury. He works closely with orthopaedic surgeons and has a strong focus on cycling, triathlon, running analysis and post-operative rehabilitation.

Aaron is an experienced Physiotherapist and GLA:D Accredited clinician with extensive involvement in volleyball and AFL. He is Head Physiotherapist for Volleyball WA State Junior and Beach programs and provides match-day care, injury prevention and concussion management. Aaron works closely with orthopaedic surgeons delivering pre and post-operative rehabilitation, with a strong focus on knee and hip osteoarthritis and structured return-to-sport programs.

Physiotherapist – West Perth

Amy is a physiotherapist with a background in exercise, sport and rehabilitation science and a strong interest in endurance sport injury management. She enjoys working with runners and cyclists, helping people return from injury and progress their training through structured rehabilitation, load management and performance-focused physiotherapy.

Outside the clinic, Amy has competed in ultra running, cycling, triathlon, CrossFit and equestrian events, giving her a practical understanding of the demands placed on the body across different sports. She is also an accomplished violinist who has performed in amateur orchestras and ensembles, and in 2025 will be involved in supporting members of the WA Symphony Orchestra.

Amy’s approach focuses on active rehabilitation, education and building long-term confidence so people can return to the activities they enjoy.

Sam is a Podiatrist at Star Physio WA with expertise in lower limb biomechanics, footwear assessment and orthotic therapy. He works with runners, field-sport athletes and individuals managing foot and ankle pain. Sam provides evidence-based podiatry care focused on improving movement efficiency, reducing injury risk and supporting long-term lower limb health.

James is a Physiotherapist at Star Physio WA with a strong interest in sports physiotherapy and performance rehabilitation. He works with athletes and active individuals to manage tendon injuries, joint pain and training-related overload conditions. James delivers structured, progressive rehabilitation programs designed to restore confidence, improve movement quality and optimise performance outcomes. James is currently based in Broome in an extended health role and not consulting patients, however remains strongly involved with Star Physio.

Merv is a Physiotherapist at Star Physio WA with extensive clinical experience in musculoskeletal care and rehabilitation. He works with individuals across all age groups, helping manage joint pain, spinal conditions and post-operative recovery. Merv emphasises active rehabilitation and practical treatment strategies to support long-term mobility and independence.

He shares his knowledge through teaching physiotherapists locally and internationally through his company Optimise Rehab. Merv's university work, lecturing and research unfortunately limits his availability at Star Physio, however all of our staff benefit from his acclaimed international work and research allowing us to provide the most up to date and evidence based treatment available.

Physiotherapist (PhD) – West Perth

Tara is an experienced Physiotherapist with a PhD from Curtin University focused on knee osteoarthritis and pain. A former Australian Women’s Volleyball captain and World Beach Tour athlete, she combines elite sporting experience with academic expertise. Tara contributes to injury prevention and conditioning programs for Western Australian Volleyball and is passionate about helping people continue doing what they love at every stage of life.​ Tara is currently on maternity leave after having her third daughter.
