Jai Hindley having a professional bikefit at Star Physio WA in Perth

Giro d’Italia winner and Tour de France Yellow Jersey holder Jai Hindley undergoing a professional bikefit at Star Physio WA.

Our Professional Bikefit Perth service is trusted by elite and professional cyclists, including Grand Tour stage winners and world-class triathletes. The same physiotherapist-led assessment and pressure mapping technology used for professional riders is available to cyclists of all levels.

How Is Star Physio’s Professional Bikefit Different?

Our Professional Bikefit Perth service is delivered exclusively by physiotherapists trained in cycling biomechanics and injury management.

We combine:

  • Injury history assessment

  • Strength and mobility screening

  • Pelvic stability analysis

  • Cleat and foot biomechanics

  • Gebiomized dynamic saddle pressure mapping

  • High-speed video analysis

Technology supports our assessment — it does not replace clinical reasoning.

Does Every Bikefit Include Saddle Pressure Assessment?

Yes. Every Professional Bikefit Perth appointment includes Gebiomized dynamic saddle pressure analysis.

This allows us to objectively assess pressure distribution, pelvic stability and load patterns while riding. It is particularly valuable for identifying causes of saddle discomfort, numbness and performance limitations.

Is a Private Health Rebate Available?

Yes. All bikefit appointments are conducted as extended physiotherapy consultations and are eligible for private health rebates under physiotherapy.

Rebate amounts depend on your level of cover.

How Long Does a Professional Bikefit Take?

A comprehensive physiotherapist-led bikefit typically takes 80–120 minutes.

This includes injury screening, movement assessment, dynamic riding analysis, pressure mapping and position optimisation.

What Should I Bring to My Bikefit?

Please bring:

  • Your bike, clean and in good working order

  • The clothing, helmet and cycling shoes you normally ride in

  • Any special tools or trainer adaptors if your bike uses uncommon components

  • Relevant scans or referrals if attending for an injury

If you are planning significant modifications such as new cleats or tri bars, please install them before your appointment so we can optimise your position during the fit.

Can a Bikefit Help With Saddle Pain or Numbness?

Yes. Saddle discomfort is commonly related to saddle height, pelvic stability and pressure distribution.

Using Gebiomized pressure mapping, we can objectively assess and adjust your position to reduce excessive pressure and improve comfort.

What about Retul and Other Computerised Bike Fit Systems?

Systems such as Retul are measurement tools — not complete bike fitting systems.

Accurate bikefit depends on the expertise of the practitioner interpreting the data. Marker placement errors and failure to assess individual biomechanics can lead to inaccurate conclusions.

At Star Physio WA, we combine technology with physiotherapy expertise to interpret data in the context of your anatomy, injury history and performance goals.

Can You Help Me Choose a New Bike or Frame Size?

Yes. We regularly advise cyclists on frame sizing, geometry and setup.

Because cycling is dynamic and influenced by flexibility, injury history and pedalling mechanics, we recommend completing a Professional Bikefit Perth assessment first.

We will provide ideal measurement targets that your bike shop can use for setup. A short follow-up appointment is usually sufficient to fine-tune the new bike.

What About Bikes With Integrated Seat Posts (ISPs)?

We do have the ability to cut integrated seat posts (ISPs). However, due to the permanent nature of this modification, we strongly prefer to determine your ideal saddle height and position first using a similar bike with an adjustable seatpost.

This allows us to complete a dynamic physiotherapist-led bikefit and confirm your optimal position before any cutting is performed.

If possible, bringing another bike with you to the appointment can assist us in ensuring the correct height and position are achieved before modifying your ISP frame. This approach reduces the risk of costly errors and ensures the best possible outcome.
