Star Physio Telehealth and Online Physiotherapy
As industry leaders, and with some of the most highly regarded physiotherapists in the world on our staff, Star Physio have been providing remote access, online or telehealth physiotherapy for many years with great success.
Our World leading tendon and rehabilitation physiotherapists including Dr Merv Travers (PhD), Dr James Debenham (PhD) and Nigel Travers (PhD Candidate) are regularly sought after by clients interstate and overseas for their expertise, and Principal Physiotherapist Damian Oldmeadow has worked with Australian Team and Professional athletes based internationally via Skype, Facetime and other video links for many years! In fact nearly all of our team have consulted clients unable to make it in to the clinic but requiring our expert assistance at some time, so we feel very comfortable with our ability to continue to assist patients.
The current climate and uncertainty around COVID-19 provides us with an opportunity to continue care of current clients, as well as assist new and previous clients in pain from your own home. It is also an ideal opportunity for those wishing to get niggles under control or even to just put together an appropriate exercise program to stay fit and healthy… particularly if we are forced into isolation!
How does it work “online”?
So, how can Physiotherapy be performed online? Traditionally physiotherapy has been seen as a very hands on profession. While manual therapy and hands on assessment are still a valuable part of our treatment, evidence shows that the most important roles of expert physiotherapists are in diagnosis, correct advice and a supervised, structured exercise program.
All of this we can provide through a confidential consultation over the telephone or online! We can also show you stretches, postures, self treatment techniques and exercises to help you get your pain under control quickly and get on with life! We have an amazing library of exercises on our website that we can direct you to during your consultation for future reference.
Following your online/ telehealth appointment you will receive a written summary of you advice and plan until your next appointment. You will also be able to email the treating physiotherapist with any queries or concerns.
Who are online consultations for?
Any patient is welcome to choose an online appointment at any time. There are great advantages for those who do not live close enough to come in and see our expert staff, and obviously in the time of the COVID-19 challenges, we appreciate those with symptoms, or at risk of having the virus choosing to stay away from others.
As we are all aware, there may be a time when we are forced to close the clinic for a period, and at this time all appointments will be switched to online.
How do I book an online consultation?
You can book in with your physiotherapist via phone- 64249578, email or even online by clicking here. Please ask for or choose “online appointment” so that we can set up the technology. If you are already a Facetime, Whatsapp, Skype or other video conferencing user, we are happy to work with whatever interface you are comfortable with. If not, we will provide you with a link that will enable you to directly hook in to a video consultation with your physiotherapist.
How will I be billed?
You will be charged a standard physiotherapy fee according to the level and expertise of the Star physiotherapist that consults with you. For online appointments we will extend our normal consultation time to enable time for technology, as well as to allow plenty of time to discuss your issues and explain the plan and any exercise program well.
At this stage the Australian Physiotherapy Association is working with compensable bodies and private health companies to make sure that online consultations attract the same rebate as “face to face” appointments. You will be invoiced for a standard physiotherapy consultation for you to take or email to your private health provider.
For online consultations you may to prepay for the appointment via credit card, or our friendly staff will call you following your consultation. Should we be unable to assist you, or if you are in any way unhappy with the online consultation, we will consider part or full refund of your consult fee.
Get in touch with any questions!
This is a nervous and uncertain time for many of us. Our goal is to help you as best as we possibly can to deal with any pain, injury or exercise goals you have. We hope to be able to continue to look after you in the clinic, but if we can’t please consider the telehealth option that we are providing.
If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch!
